CONFERENCE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty we are still facing, our Steering Committee, along with the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, and the Virginia Association of Area Agencies on Aging, have decided to pivot the 2021 Conference to a virtual format!  We look forward to attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and community partners joining us May 24-27 from across the Commonwealth and from other locations around the country!

TICKETS


How do I gain access and attend the conference?

 

To access the conference material, you must first purchase a ticket. After purchasing a ticket you will receive an email from Conference staff on how to create a login for the conference portal. Please keep your login credentials in a safe & accessible place. You will use this to log in to the conference portal for the duration of the conference.


 

What qualifies me for the Student rate?

 

By registering for this rate, you are certifying that you are currently enrolled, full time, in a two or four year university, undergraduate or graduate degree program. You will be asked to identify the institution in which you are enrolled. 


 

What qualifies me for the Direct Care Worker rate?

 

By registering for this rate you are certifying that you are a Direct Care Worker who is identified as a CNA or Personal Care Aide. You will be asked to identify your credentials and employer as appropriate.


 

What qualifies me for the Speaker rate?

 

This rate is available to those individuals who are presenters in one of the conference sessions

Are there any scholarships or assistance available to attend the conference?

There is a scholarship opportunity for Direct Care Workers who identify as a CNA or Personal Care Aide. You will be asked to identify your credentials and employer as appropriate. They will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Email info@vgcoa.com to request the scholarship registration code.

We have a limited amount of donated tickets available to older adults who are interested in joining us at the conference, but may need financial assistance. They will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Email info@vgcoa.com to request the registration code.

REGISTRATION

How should I register if I am purchasing tickets for multiple people?

 

Please register each person individually and be sure to use their email address when completing the registration process. This is imperative as we use this to communicate with conference attendees before and during the conference.

 

Please register each person individually and choose MANUAL PAYMENT at checkout. Please contact VGCOA Staff at info@vgcoa.com for an invoice for the total of tickets purchased. IMPORTANT: Please indicate the first and last names of each person you registered in your email.


 

Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

 

Registration is transferable until May 7th. Please contact VGCOA staff directly so they can transfer conference login permissions to the new attendee and provide that individual with instructions to create login credentials.

What if I need to cancel my registration?

 

A full refund will be issued until May 3 with a $15 admin fee (to be deducted from refund). After May 3, you will be charged an administrative fee of $25 for a full refund.

What is the last day to register for the conference?

 

Tickets are available through the duration of the conference.

You can pay online with a credit card or pay by check.

OTHER CONFERENCE QUESTIONS

Will sessions have continuing education credits?

 

The Virginia Assisted Living Association (VALA) has received approval for this program for continuing education 17.25 total participant hours by NAB/NCERS—Approval #20220523-29-A75994-DL. Some sessions at this educational offering will be eligible for contact hours relevant to the practice of nursing as authorized by the VA Board of Nursing.

 

*These sessions are relevant to the practice of nursing for continuing education purposes.

 

HR Professionals who are Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Members: LeadingAge Virginia has applied for and received confirmation for SHRM PDC eligibility for three sessions of the VGCOA conference, each of which will provide .75 PDC (How Virtual Reality Helps Us train Better & Faster During Crisis; Let’s  Disrupt Ageism and Develop Elderhood!; and Intersections of Diversity and Ageism). In order to receive these credits, you must attend the sessions and complete the evaluations. These evaluations must be completed by May 28. Remember that you need 60 PDCs for your 3-year certification.

 

 **These sessions are relevant to SHRM for continuing education purposes 


 

What if I miss a session or can’t attend the entire conference?

 

Recorded sessions will be available to paid attendees after the conference for viewing online.
