MAY 24-27, 2021

Due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty we are still facing, our Steering Committee, along with the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, and the Virginia Association of Area Agencies on Aging, have decided to pivot the 2021 Conference to a virtual format!  We look forward to attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and community partners joining us May 24-27 from across the Commonwealth and from other locations around the country!

The Virginia Governor’s Conference on Aging aims to bring together professionals to engage on critical issues facing older adults and their caregivers and the needs revealed as we continually adapt and anticipate what is next.

The 2021 virtual conference will yield recommendations to current and future policy makers on measures to be taken to make Virginia one of the most livable states for all ages. Virginia’s population is becoming older and more diverse. Today there are nearly 1.5 million adults in the Commonwealth age 60 and over, and this population will expand to more than two million by 2030 when the baby boom generation will be between 66 and 84 years old. Virginia’s aging population is living longer due to the advances in health care and older Virginians with chronic conditions will receive assistance for longer periods of time. This is why it is critical to bring together our leaders and professionals to identify and discuss what we, as a state, are doing well, what we can learn from others and how we can support and be a valuable resource to those aging Virginians and their caregivers.

The conference is designed for professionals in the aging services network, including, healthcare, government, business, academia, students, nonprofit, and volunteers. We look forward to the active engagement of participants in conversations to promote a healthy and safe Commonwealth for older adults, families, businesses, service providers and community partners.
